SO who exactly is this omar guy?

Whether dissecting a favorite song, finding cultural connections when cooking, taking in the colors and geometry of nature, I love finding bits of inspiration in everyday life. As an avid runner, my time on the trails is invaluable for keeping both body and mind in shape, and it’s in these moments alone I find that you can disconnect a bit and let your subconscious start to weave disparate ideas together.

When I’m not designing, I have a wide range of other passions ranging from writing and playing music, building Legos, or playing soccer. I particularly enjoy finding the connections and nuances between different mediums and taking on different roles with the people around me - from knowing when to pass instead of taking a shot on goal, or feeling out when to grab the spotlight for a guitar or drum solo and when to take a step back and let someone else shine. On a quiet, rainy day you can find me curled up on the couch reading some Vonnegut with coffee in hand or pretending I’m competent with watercolors.

I've found that having a wide range of interests benefits me immensely as a creative, allowing me to draw from a wealth of reference points for inspiration. Though I've learned to trust my creative intuition, I have learned countless times from working with talented people around me to poke holes in concepts or to show me a different perspective and come to the right conclusions. In the creative world no idea is sacred or beyond scrutiny, so being able to understand a flaw or recognize opportunity from a fresh set of eyes has helped me develop into the creative I am today.
